Barry Schwartz one of the most respected SEO information sources has reported that Google has pulled the PageRank stats from within Google Webmaster Tools found under crawl stats.

Barrys report on PageRank gone from GWT

There is also confirmation from a Google employee,

Susan Moskwa from the Google Webmaster Central team explained it was removed because Google keeps telling webmasters “that they shouldn’t focus on PageRank so much.” They felt it was “silly” to keep telling webmasters that, and at the same time show it in Webmaster Tools. So Google removed it from Webmaster Tools.

I imagine it won’t be long till PR is dropped from the toolbar as well.

When it happens seems to be only a matter of time!!

More to come!!

I wrote this on my marketing blog and wanted to let people here know too!

Microsoft and Yahoo Search Agreement

Just so you know you read it here first Microsoft and Yahoo have combined to join forces on search, Microsoft (aka Bing) will power Yahoo search, while Yahoo will direct the premium ad sales relationship for both companies. While Google has trumped Pay Per Click, Yahoo dominated display advertising for the past decade at least, and earned quite a bit of money doing so.

What will this mean going forward is hard to say.

Will this effect organic search results on Google for your site?

Will this effect paid search going forward? Yes there is going to be change in paid search now and for a few decades or more to come. Anytime a large corporation can make more money by improving our search for information there will always be change.

If you consider things, search as it is, is no different than most products or services, things change, they always offer something “new”, when in reality it’s not really new…just a bit different.

Stay tuned!

Indeed stay tuned as it would seem there will be repercussions from this move to some degree. SEO is set to change once again!!

Ok here is a clue you are completely lost as to SEO and what it is about.

If you post on a job board and one of your requirements is the following….

Links must be permanent……

Then you have no clue on what you are doing or asking for. Here is why;

Websites and blogs appear online daily for the first time ever AND websites and blogs fall offline daily!!!

Now if a link is built to a site A from site B and site B falls offline a month later there is little to nothing that any SEO can do about that.

Of course if the SEO owns site B that is a different story but if you hired an SEO who builds links from his sites…..well you did not really hire an SEO after all…..

No link can be deemed permanent therefore, and if you think it can…….well I will be nice and leave things there….

SEO Fables

Okay one thing you need to be aware of is the fact that many so called SEOs (cough) are not capable of SEO for terms with competitive pages of 1,000,000 or more.

This company for example seo-1-marketing-services.com/company.htm claims to have 15 years of SEO experience…yet you cannot find the site in the top 100 results for seo keyword terms and you would have to think that a site with 15 years SEO experience would be at the top of Google.

Another issue is it is 2008 and 15 years ago 1992 few sites were online and I am not sure a search engine existed at the time, certainly nobody had heard of SEO.

The other reason you should be aware of so called wolves in SEO clothing, is a little research goes a long way in detecting bullshit.

Domain Name: SEO-1-MARKETING-SERVICES.COM
Created on: 23-Apr-07
Expires on: 23-Apr-09

15 years experience and yet the site was created less than 6 months ago…….

It’s the BS Zone and were not having it boys and girls!!

Here’s some more, the same SEO company cannot write about SEO itself it needs to hire someone to do it for them.

    masterSEO

    I need 15 Internet Marketing/SEO Articles Rewriten

Basically it will be be covering general internet marketing/webdesign/SEO concepts and be written on a “how-to/guide”
(See: http://ezinearticles.com/editorial-guidelines.html )fashion so that it tells the reader enough to help them understand the direction of their strategy to improve the traffic of the readers’ site and position me as an expert to motivate them to use my services.

Well if an SEO needs to be positioned as an expert I have to wonder how much of an SEO the person is.

This would be like going to an auto mechanic for your mint condition 1963 Chevy Corvette and him telling you he is an expert Mechanic and finding out he knows nothing about cars and hires a guy from the neighborhood who restores classic cars as a hobby.

Always talk to prospect SEOs first via IM or phone, and find proof of front page results on all three major search engines for keyword phrases of two words or less.

Keyword Research

One of the first things anyone should do when thinking of having a website optimized or completing SEO for your own website is keyword research.

Without the proper time spent in research of targeted keyword terms, you could waste months or even years chasing the wrong consumers, or possibly a keyword few people use to do a search.

Here are two tools I recommend to be used for keyword research.

Keyword Discovery

Find the Best Keywords for Your Business and Drive More Traffic to Your Website!

These are two of the more widely known tools and I often use Adwords as well. Remember that with all keyword research the numbers can be misleading and are often a mix of fact & fantasy mixed with best guestimate practices!

Link Sales Are Fine After All!!

I checked today and the selling link spanking must be over.

Matt Cutts in an e-mail to Loren Baker clearly stated that Google was giving out PageRank reductions for selling links.

Matt Cutts to Loren Baker: The partial update to visible PageRank that went out a few days ago was primarily regarding PageRank selling and the forward links of sites. So paid links that pass PageRank would affect our opinion of a site.

Sounds ominous doesn’t it? Makes lots of people scared. But in all actuality it is simply Google Propaganda.

I found a lot of sites in the organic results and in the paid results with high PR and there are sites listed in the organic positions 1 to 10.

So whats going on?

Take a look at these sites.

http://www.livecustomer.com/ PR6 Sells via adword

http://www.linkworth.com/ PR5 Organic

http://www.authoritydomains.com/ PR 5 Sells via Adwords

http://www.textlinkbrokers.com/ PR3 Organic

Further just do a search on Google for the keywords ’sell text links”…….

Google is the mother of all corporate propaganda boys and girls, and it’s high time we put a stop to it!!

I guarantee this is a ploy to move the stock market in their favor.

More to come…

Matt Cutts caught in another lie.

Turns out Matt C aka GooglePuppet is at Word Camp On July 21st 2007 and makes a claim that Google now supports the use of underscores.

News.com Interview Matt Cutts dated July 23rd

Did Matt read a WebProWorld Thread?

Because I find it weird… really odd as on July 14th 2007 I explain why underscores are preferred over hyphens in a post thread at WebProWorld

Hyphens Vs Underscores

People are questioning me trying to prove me wrong so I show them the following keyword terms used in Google.com search query.

First term: search engine optimization

- Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or …
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_optimization – 85k -

# 2 listing for search engine optimization

notice the underscores ????

Next lets try something else I love SEM

search engine marketing

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_marketing

# 2 listing for that term too…

Now I know for a fact that WikiPedia has been listed on the front page for several months for these terms. Most SEOs should know this.

One of the mods at WPW continues to press that his opinion is correct and even tells me I am wrong as Msn & Yahoo do not support underscores….

But the no BS SEO proves fact over stubborn opinion by proving all three search engines support the use of underscores

Next if you type in the search box

search engine optimization

The number 1 in Yahoo is ….

# en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_ engine_optimization

You say underscores are not supported??

Msn?

type in the search box

search engine optimization

Whats the listing at # 4 ???

# en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_ engine_optimization
Man this is getting old but lets really slam the door shut on Google and Matt Cutts lies.

Matts at Word Camp (a conference for Word Press users and developers) explaining how underscores are now supported by Google and meanwhile WordPress has pages ranked at the top of Google Search Results and rated a PageRank 7 by Google

ht tp://c odex.word press.org/Creating_an_Archive_Index

Yeah right Google just started supporting underscores…..

Someone should cut the puppets strings.
